The Armor of God Bible Study with Video Access is a practical option for women who want a structured study of Ephesians 6 and a more deliberate prayer habit. The linked edition includes the study book and individual streaming access. I would choose it when a group can make room for both the teaching and the work between meetings.

Priscilla Shirer’s course is one of the resources in my Bible studies for women guide. This review focuses on the video-access paperback so you can tell what you are buying and plan around its actual format.

I checked Lifeway’s course description, session details, and the matching Amazon edition. I have not completed the course or redeemed a video code.

Match that ISBN when ordering for a group. The same study exists in other formats, and a familiar cover alone is not enough to establish which extras are included. If the leader specifies a particular version, share the identifier with everyone before they buy.

I would check the code and playback instructions as soon as the book arrives. A secondhand copy may still be useful for reading, but an unused code should never be assumed.

How long should you allow for a group meeting?

Allow time beyond the video for Scripture, discussion, and prayer. Lifeway advertises videos of approximately 18 to 45 minutes. That is a significant portion of a one-hour meeting.

For a 75-minute gathering, I would choose one central discussion question before the group arrives. After the teaching, give people a moment to look back at the biblical passage, then discuss the question and close with prayer. This is a suggested meeting plan, not an official course requirement.

If your group only has 45 minutes, consider whether members can watch individually beforehand under the access terms for their copies. That changes the group’s routine, so agree on it at the outset. Do not assume everyone will have time to watch twice.

Also put the six weeks of personal work on the calendar. A course can be a good fit in subject and still be a poor fit for a particularly busy season.

What does the study focus on?

The course uses the armor imagery in Ephesians 6 to explore prayer and Christian faithfulness. Its session outline includes truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and Scripture.

I would read Ephesians 6:10–20 as a complete passage before separating its images into individual topics. Notice the repeated call to stand, the source of strength, and the place of prayer. Reading the whole passage helps keep a striking illustration connected to the argument around it.

A group can then ask what a teaching point rests on: a statement in the passage, a connection to another text, or the teacher’s application. All three can contribute to discussion, but they should not be treated as interchangeable.

That habit is useful in any course. My beginner’s Bible study guide offers other starting resources if your group needs more help reading passages in context.

How could you use the prayer cards?

Use a card to record a focused prayer you can revisit. The course includes perforated cards, but the following example is my own way of using a simple prayer reminder.

Write the passage reference first. Then record one concern in plain language and one response that is within your responsibility. For a strained relationship, that response might be listening carefully before answering or making an honest apology.

Leave space to revisit the concern. You do not need to turn every card into a record of a dramatic outcome. Sometimes the useful observation is that your own response has become more patient or that you need to ask someone for help.

Keep personal details private when sharing in a group. People should be free to name a concern generally without having to explain another person’s circumstances.

Can you work through it on your own?

Yes, the personal-study material and individual video access make solo use possible. The part you will need to replace is the conversation.

I would pause after a teaching session and write two things: the passage I want to reread and the question I would have asked in a group. Bring that question to a trusted friend or church leader when appropriate. Watching another video immediately can make it easy to skip reflection.

If a video course feels too demanding, a weekly prayer companion may suit your routine better. My Praying the Names of God for 52 Weeks review explains that different format.

Is it a good Christian gift?

It can be, especially when the recipient has already expressed interest in Shirer’s teaching or plans to join a group using the study. A course is a more personal choice than a general reading book because it comes with a time commitment.

Before giving it, check whether the person already owns an older copy and whether their group is using the video-access edition. If you are buying several copies, settle the format and meeting plan first.

My recommendation: choose this edition for a group that wants teaching, personal study, and prayer to work together. Protect discussion time, check access early, and keep returning to the whole biblical passage.

I used Lifeway’s exact-edition listing and session outline and the matching Amazon product page. Meeting, prayer-card, and solo-study suggestions are my own. I have not assessed the physical paper, completed every lesson, or tested streaming.
